The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed the European Integration Law "On the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants", which will become the only state online data system.
The digital map will display all polluting enterprises and information about them, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.
The message explained that the national register will also be integrated with the corresponding European register.
The law will allow the State to:
- track emissions and transport of pollutants in time and space;
- analyze emissions reduction and set priorities in reduction and elimination of potentially harmful emissions;
- to make effective decisions on prevention and reduction of industrial pollution.
The law will allow the public to:
- get free and convenient access to environmental information;
- participate in the formation of state environmental policy in the field of emissions registration.
The message also emphasized that the Ministry of Environment worked together with experts from the European project APENA 2 on the development of the law.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote that the Verkhovna Rada on September 20 approved the government bill in the second reading No. 6477 "On the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants". This decision was supported by 228 people's deputies.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the European Business Association called on people's deputies to finalize draft law No. 6477 "On the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants." In their opinion, the document contains provisions which are not consistent with the requirements of international and European approaches and can significantly affect the investment attractiveness of Ukraine and its further economic development.
