Even during martial law, companies compensate for losses

In the Kyiv region, the Shamrayivsky sugar LLC sugar factory is located in the village Ryda, Belotserkivskyi district, voluntarily reimbursed 64,000 hryvnias in damages for littering and pollution of land.

In October 2021, eco-inspectors discovered that the enterprise was storing waste in unauthorized places on open ground, the State Ecoinspection of the Capital District reported on Facebook.

Violations were discovered during an unscheduled inspection. The plant was presented with claims for damages in the total amount of 64 thousand hryvnias, which were paid voluntarily.

"Even during martial law, business entities pay for damages caused to the environment, for the sake of sustainable work for the benefit of our state," the report said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Kyiv region the courts forced three enterprises to pay UAH 343.8 thousand to the state budget for violation of environmental legislation. Violators were the Baryshivskyi silk farm, Boryspil International Airport and Makarivskyi forestry farm.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ukraine fines for violation of environmental legislation are distributed between environmental protection funds, state, regional and local budgets, which is determined by special laws.
