The forests of the Zhytomyr region are under triple supervision

In the forests of the Zhytomyr region, 72 video surveillance cameras of the "Eye of the Forest" video surveillance system were installed to quickly detect and eliminate forest fires.

Information about the occurrence of fires, coordinates of the fire and the shortest route will be transmitted to the next dispatching station and to the mobile phones of engineering and technical workers, Oleg Bondarenko, head of the eco-committee, reports on Facebook.

He explained that the system functions as follows: in each forestry, the duty officer sees the entire territory of the forestry through a monitor, and at the central control panel of the forest farm, another operator already monitors the territory of the entire forest farm. If one dispatcher misses a fire, the second one will definitely see it. And the operator at the management level sees all the forests of the region.

In addition, "Eye of the Forest" provides an opportunity to conduct video surveillance in any place from a mobile phone or other device, when connected to the Internet.

"In this way, the forest massifs of the Zhytomyr region are under triple supervision," said Bondarenko.

The system was presented during the board meeting September 28 and 29, where the main topic of discussion was the areas of work and development of forestry in Ukraine, in particular, in the conditions of martial law.

" The forestry sector is of great strategic importance for the development of the state, especially in wartime conditions. During these months, Ukrainian foresters continue to work and adapt to new realities," he wrote.

The meeting also discussed the issue of the heating season and ways to ensure it, in particular through the launch of the online store "DrovaYE".

Bondarenko also said that reproduction of forests and preservation of forest crops can be implemented only by providing high-quality planting material.

Thus, a full-cycle breeding and seed center was opened in Hladkovytsia Forestry of Zhytomyr region.

"This is the first such center in the region and the fourth of those currently operating in Ukraine," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelets on Facebook. – Despite the war, we continue to implement the President's "Green Country" program – where we have the opportunity. Autumn forestry planting has already started. This year, we plan to open similar forest seed plants in regions where there are no active hostilities."

He said that the center will produce 5 million coniferous seedlings with a closed root system per year. This technology makes it possible to extend the period when weather conditions allow planting a forest.

After all, the forests of Zhytomyr region were significantly damaged not only during the war. Thus, in 2020, the region was covered by large-scale forest fires, and the elimination of their consequences will take tens of years.

Earlier. EcoPolitic wrote, that autumn campaign for planting forests started in Ukraine, during which seedlings with a closed root system from selection and seed centers will be actively used.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, territorial communities in Ukraine were returned within two months 11,400 self-sowing hectares are in the forest fund of the country , that is, natural forests.
