The sea washes up only about 5% of all dead animals

Scientists found five dead dolphins, 2 white-sided dolphins and 3 bottlenose dolphins on the coast of the National Natural Park Tuzlivski lymany in Odesa, and they were also informed about three more dead white-sided dolphins near the park.

Probable cause of death 3 white-sided the strengthening of the Black Sea fleet of Russian troops with another submarine – a carrier of cruise missiles in July, Ivan Rusev, ecologist of the Tuzlivski lymany NPP, writes on Facebook.

Park employees, after analyzing the condition of the animals in the provided photos, assumed that these three dolphins died in the third decade of July.

In July, groups of heterogeneous forces of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation, at a safe distance from the Odessa coast, practiced training. Their equipment has sonar (sonars) that create powerful sounds. Due to their influence, dolphins lose their orientation in space and become blind, because they see with the help of echolocation, and also receive a powerful acoustic injury.

"Such an insane load of the Black Sea environment with sonar devices led to yet another death of dolphins," the biologist writes.

He also emphasized that the sea washes ashore only about 5% of all dead animals, and the rest goes to the bottom, which makes it impossible to register them.

"We believe that during the war of russian barbarians against Ukraine, tens of thousands of dolphins have already died," the scientist said.

As EcoPolitic reported before, Ivan Rusev, an employee of the Tuzlivski lymany National Park, said that the victims of the russian invasion of Ukraine were no less than three thousand dolphins in the Black Sea.
