In Kyiv, residents of the city were advised to close their windows and limit their time outside due to a fire in a peatland.
This applies especially to residents of the Obolon district, reports Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
State Emergency Service noted that, as of 18:00 on August 28, in the village of Stoyanka, Buchanskyi district, rescuers worked on the elimination of a peat fire in separate areas on a total area of 0.6 ha. Fuel and lubricants and tires also burned in the city of Vyshhorod.
Rescuers are working on the spot, and the situation is under control.
The KCSA reminded that in case of smoke it is worth to:
- limit being outdoors, especially children and pregnant women should refrain from long walks;
- keep windows closed, especially at night and early in the morning. When opening the windows, hang the windows with a moistened cloth and periodically change it;
- turn on air conditioning and air purification systems;
- carry out wet cleaning and place containers with water to increase air humidity;
- increase fluid intake to 2-3 liters per day for adults. To compensate for the loss of salts and microelements, it is recommended to drink salted and mineral alkaline water, milk-acid drinks (skimmed milk, milk whey), juices, mineralized drinks, oxygen-protein cocktails.
If symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough or insomnia appear, you should consult a doctor.
As EcoPolitic reported before, in Kyiv on July 11, people felt in the air the smell of smoke from smoldering peatlands in Nova Hrebla and Borodyansk.
