Specialists took and analyzed 1,610 samples of atmospheric air

In the air of Kyiv during the week with July 18 to 23 In 2022, it was found that the average daily maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen dioxide were exceeded by up to 4.8 times and formaldehyde by up to 3.8 times.

Compared to the previous week, the level of nitrogen dioxide and formaldehyde pollution has increased, says the weekly reports on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the observatory, the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) exceeded by the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide last week was:

  • 3.2-4.8 times on Peremoha and Bessarabska squares, Peremoha and Obolonsky avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Inzhenera Borodin street;
  • 2.3-2.9 times on Demiivska Square, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Semena Sklyarenko, Dovzhenka, Popudrenka, and Kaunaska streets;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of ​​the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 3.1-3.8 times on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Peremoha avenue, Sklyarenko street;
  • 1.4-2.9 times on Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Obolonskyi and Nauka avenues, in the Hydropark area, Dovzhenka, Kaunaska, Akademika Strazheska and Popudrenka streets.

Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:

  • of suspended solids - 1.0-1.2 times on Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Peremoha avenue (Sviatoshin metro area), Kaunaska street;
  • of carbon monoxide - 1.0-1.3 times on Peremogy Avenue, Akademika Strazheska Street (intersection with Vaclav Havel Boulevard).

Experts of the observatory selected and analyzed 1610 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary posts
