The strategic goal of post-war recovery is a clean and safe environment, further movement along the European green course and reconstruction of the economy according to the principles of sustainable development

The international community was presented with the environment component of the Plan for the Reconstruction of Ukraine after the war, which requires €25.5 billion of investment for the implementation of 76 environmental protection projects.

It was presented by the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Switzerland, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

More than 200 experts worked on the section.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi (online), the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, representatives of the Office of the President, the Government of Ukraine, Parliament, business, civil society, as well as representatives of more than 50 countries and 20 international organizations are participating in the event.

"We are already taking care of investment attraction. As part of the LIFE program, to which Ukraine recently joined, we will be able to implement a number of projects even before we become a member of the European Union," said Strilets.

He explained that the strategic goal of post-war recovery is a clean and safe environment, further movement along the European green course and reconstruction of the economy according to the principles of sustainable development.

For this Ukraine will implement 9 urgent reforms in the field of waste management, state environmental control, regulation of industrial pollution, comprehensive environmental monitoring, management of protected areas, etc.

To achieve results in Ukraine, they will create:

  • more than 100 modern waste management facilities;
  • 10 exemplary national parks in accordance with EU standards;
  • 10 rehabilitation centers for wild animals;
  • 15 biotransitions on the way of animal migration;
  • 9 forest seed centers for growing tree seedlings;

In addition, Ukraine plans to use modern technologies to rebuild industry and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10 times.

"The main goal is not only to return to the point of reference on February 24, but also to achieve significantly greater results," the report said.
