Utilities want to open similar sites near residential buildings

In Lutsk, the city's first waste management center (WMC) is opened, where people will be able to sort their waste into 14 fractions.

The site has special containers for foam plastic, household appliances, clothes, glass, paper, organic waste, various types of plastic, etc, reports Lutsk City Council.

Responsible for this center Serhiy Mikhalevich said that earlier the territory of the site was used for overloading garbage. However, currently garbage is collected from Eurocontainers and immediately taken to the landfill, so this area remains free.

"There was also a garbage sorting station here, which we collected around the city, and now we have converted it and made a site where community residents can come and sort garbage to the appropriate fractions," Mikhalevich said.

The press service emphasized that this is currently the only such site in the Lutsk community, but in the future there is a possibility of creating new ones.

"Communal officials have an idea to open them near houses, because community residents often ask where they can sort garbage and hand over this or that type of waste," the report says.

Central Office is located at: Trunkina Street, 7 .

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Volyn in the city of Koveli installed 3 containers for hazardous waste, where citizens can hand over used lamps, batteries, accumulators and thermometers for safe disposal.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, plans are being made in the Volyn region increase the number of stationary observation points according to the state of atmospheric air and expand the list of pollutants subject to monitoring.
