Seventy-two collection points for Christmas trees will be operating in the capital until January 31. Special locations have been designated in parks and squares throughout Kyiv, as well as on the premises of municipal enterprises.
According to the Kyiv City Council, this will enable residents to contribute to the rational use of natural resources and reduce the burden on the environment.
Benefits for the environment even after disposal
Pines, fir trees, and other holiday trees can benefit the environment if they are disposed of separately from general waste. They are planned to be reused in Kyiv's green economy. From the collection points, the plants will be sent for ecological disposal—shredding and conversion into wood chips.
"It will then be used for mulching holes, which helps to retain moisture in the soil, protect root systems from freezing, and stabilize temperatures during the warm season. Therefore, we urge residents and visitors to Kyiv to hand over live coniferous trees for ecological disposal after the holidays," said Pavlo Ivanov, Director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Where and how to dispose of trees
The conditions for acceptance are simple: the Christmas tree must be real, not artificial, and "clean" – without garlands, toys, or other decorations.
Collection points are located in parks and squares throughout the capital. Municipal enterprises responsible for maintaining green spaces and forest parks are also involved in the collection of coniferous trees.
A map of Christmas tree collection points can be found at the link.
