Customs officials confiscated in Volyn 21 cubic meters of illegal pine sawn timber worth 65 thousand hryvnias.
Only half of the boards loaded in the car could be made from the trees described in the Certificate, Volyn Customs reports on Facebook.
"At the Kovel post, another load of wood was saved from the thoughtless and illegal export of Ukrainian forest," the report says.
It is noted that the Kyiv businessman submitted false data in the package of accompanying documents for the export operation. This was discovered by experts from the anti-smuggling department together with an involved expert from the forestry university.
The message emphasized that the origin of about half of the wood from the batch is unknown. The wood was taken to the customs warehouse, because such actions have signs of violation of customs rules.
It is noted that the sanction of Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code provides for the confiscation of goods and a fine in the full amount of the value of the offending items.
"The final decision in the case will be made by the court soon," the message added.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Transcarpathia, on the border with Hungary, customs officers discovered illegal export of timber for almost 300,000 hryvnias. The violator provided documents with false information, and the timber certificate was issued to another batch.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation completed a pre-trial investigation into the forester and senior foreman of the Berehomet Forestry in Bukovina, who in April 2022 organized a "forest scheme" worth 2.2 million UAH.
