Inhalation from burning foam can cause severe intoxication and even death

In Vinnytsia, they started accepting foam plastic (polystyrene), which is used in packaging for transporting equipment, thermal dishes for processing.

Experts also explained why this material absolutely cannot be burned and sent to landfills, Eco-Service reports on Facebook.

Styrofoam products are widely used by various enterprises, including construction, trade, freight, catering, etc.

However, it must not be burned after use. After all, during combustion, hydrocyanic acid, carbon monoxide, soot, phosgene, hydrogen bromide are released into the atmosphere. When animals and people inhale the vapors of these substances, severe intoxication and even death are possible.

In nature, this material will decompose for more than a hundred years, even under the influence of temperatures from -40 to + 400 °C. It easily tolerates the effects of ultraviolet light, water, air and other natural factors. At the same time, chemical reactions with other substances are possible, in which toxic substances enter the soil and atmosphere.

Thus, the Styrofoam landfill harms the environment and human health.

"It is inconvenient to store polystyrene. It requires a separate dry room, voluminous in area. This is inconvenient, as the foam takes up a lot of useful space," the article noted.

Styrofoam can be returned for recycling at the following address: Vinnytsia, str. Lukyanenko (Vatutina) 19. For the removal of large volumes of material, you can contact the number 0985656904.

"A mandatory condition is that the material must be clean," the message said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that used car tires need proper disposal, which Eco-Service can provide in Vinnytsia.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, it is now possible to get in Ukraine a license to handle hazardous materials waste online on the EcoSystem platform.
