Draft Law No. 8191 does not apply to solar power plants

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has registered draft law No. 8191 "On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the extension of the term of commissioning of renewable energy facilities under contracts for the purchase and sale of electric energy at the green tariff, concluded by December 31, 2019."

This will give RES producers the opportunity to put into operation facilities whose implementation was suspended due to a full-scale invasion, the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada reports Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.

He explained that this applies only to those producers of renewable energy who have signed contracts for the purchase and sale of electricity at the green tariff with the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" until December 31, 2019.

However, draft law No. 8191 does not apply to solar power plants.

The document provides:

  • extension of the commissioning period of RES facilities by two years;
  • extension for two years of the validity of the technical conditions for such electric power facilities.

Earlier, EoPolitic wrote, that a new study by REN21 showed that in Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia 90% of wind capacities have been decommissioned and 30% of solar power plants.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, experts of the Center for Economic Recovery stated that in Ukraine investors in the wind energy sector can to complete at least 300 MW of capacity, of the 600 MW planned for commissioning in 2022.
