Deputy Minister of Energy Yaroslav Demchenkov invited international partners to join the development of the Ukrainian wind generation market, in particular the offshore market.
After all, Ukraine is interested in the experience of partner countries where wind generation is rapidly developing, the Ministry of Energy reports on Facebook.
This happened at an online meeting with representatives of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Danish Energy Agency, the Ministry of Energy Security and Carbon Neutrality (Net Zero) of Great Britain.
Demchenkov invited international colleagues to join:
- assessment of Ukraine's wind potential;
- analysis of Ukrainian and European wind generation development practice;
- preparation of the legislative and regulatory framework for efficient business operations, in particular generation using sea (offshore) wind.
He noted that modeling, integration of markets and creation of conditions for attracting investments and technologies to the country's energy sector are currently relevant.
The Deputy Minister of Energy added that the agency is interested in the experience of partner countries where wind generation is rapidly developing. Great Britain, Denmark and Germany are the leaders among such countries. After all, in Great Britain, onshore and offshore wind turbines produce almost 33% of all electricity.
He emphasized that, according to the forecasts of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2050 RES will make up 90% of the total structure of electricity generation in the world. About 70% will come from solar and wind generation.
"Ukraine has the experience of a rapid increase in the number of solar power plants, it has the experience of mistakes and success stories. We are currently working on a market model that will significantly increase the share of installed RES capacities in the overall energy mix. The driver of growth should be wind generation, in particular offshore wind," Demchenkov emphasized.
