More than 1,100 trees were illegally cut down on the forestry territory

The specialized environmental prosecutor's office in Zaporizhzhia has recovered almost UAH 8 million in damages from a forestry company due to their inaction, which led to illegal deforestation.

This was reported by the press service of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office on Facebook.

It is noted that forestry officials did not take measures to ensure the protection of forests, which led to the illegal felling of more than 1.1 thousand trees on the territory of the forestry and caused damage to the state of almost UAH 8 million.

"The decision of the economic court of the Zaporizhia region satisfied the claims of the Zaporizhzhia regional prosecutor's office for the recovery of losses caused to the state from forestry," the press service reports.

After the decision enters into force, the prosecutor's office will take measures aimed at its actual implementation.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a court in the Kyiv region sentenced three men for illegal felling of trees in the amount of over UAH 1.2 million.
