Compared to the previous week, the level of carbon monoxide pollution has decreased

In the air of Kyiv during the week with September 5 to 10 In 2022, a 9.7-fold and 6.8-fold exceedance of the daily maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and formaldehyde was found.

Compared to the previous week, the level of pollution by these gases has increased, says the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • 9.7 times – on the street Engineer Borodin on September 7;
  • in 5.4-6.2 times – on Peremogy Avenue (Sviatoshyn metro district), str. Kaunaska, str. Semena Sklyarenko September 5 and 7-9;
  • in 3.0-4.4 times – on Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Obolonsky prospect;
  • in 2.0-2.6 times on Demiivska Square, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, str. Akademika Strazheska, str. Oleksandr Dovzhenka;
  • 1.0-1.7 times in the Hydropark area.

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 6.8 times – on Demiivska Square on September 5;
  • 5.6-6.2 times – on the street Semena Sklyarenko September 8-9;
  • in 5.0-5.4 times – on the street Kaunaska, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard;
  • in 3.0-4.5 times – on the street Oleksandr Dovzhenka (Shulyavka metro area), Vaclav Havel Boulevard, Peremogy Square, Bessarabska Square, str. Popudrenka, Peremohy Avenue,
  • in 1.0-2.5 times – in the area of Nauka Avenue, Hydropark.

Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:

  • by sulfur dioxide – 1.0-1.4 times on September 5-9 at all observation posts, except for st. Akademika Strazheska and Nauka Avenue (in the vicinity of the observatory's weather field);
  • suspended solids – 1.0-1.2 times on Bessarabska and Peremoha Squares, Semena Sklyarenko Street.

Compared to the previous week, decreased level of carbon monoxide pollution.

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1692 samples of atmospheric air at 16 stationary stations.

As EcoPolitic reported before, in Kyiv as of Wednesday morning, September 7, pollution level of atmospheric air was very low on the right bank and average on the left.
