Collected tires will be sent for disposal

In Lutsk, the dismantling of almost three thousand old car tires, which were used for attractions and fences, began on the territory of 48 kindergartens.

Instead of tires, botanical corners, modern playgrounds, flowers will be planted and street furniture will be installed, Suspilne reports.

The article emphasized that the tires have been taken out for about a week.

Oksana Lysak, head of the ecology department of the Lutsk City Council, emphasized that the tires belong to the 4th class of danger. They poison the air and soil with microparticles of polymers.

She said that the collected tires will be sent for recycling, for which the city council is already looking for contractors.

The head of kindergarten No. 17, Svitlana Kralya, said that the kindergarten was built in the 60s. At that time, no one thought about or knew about the damage from tires, so they were used for attractions and fences for many years. The administration of the kindergarten together with the parents decided to dismantle everything.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, objects of "communal art" made from car tires pose a threat to the environment and people's health. After all, tires contain more than 120 chemicals, some of which are strong carcinogens. The negative impact intensifies on a hot day, when the tires are exposed to direct sunlight rays
