In Kyiv, environmental inspectors have calculated UAH 2.6 million in damages for the destruction of a part of the Desnianski Luki landscape reserve.

PJSC Kyivvodokanal and the private enterprise Vodolit dug a trench in the protected area to lay a pipe, which is prohibited by law, the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC) reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the violation was discovered in March 2023, when CECC specialists inspected the protected area. After the creation of Desnianski Meadows, the Kyiv City Council obliged the CECC to protect this reserve.

"The landscape reserve of local importance "Desnyanskii luky" was created by the Kyiv Council in the Desnyanskiy district of Kyiv to protect the floodplain of the Desna River with an area of 322 hectares," the message says.

KEKC said that after discovering the violation, ecologists turned to the law enforcement officers. The Desnyan Police Department of Kyiv opened a criminal case based on this fact. And recently, the State Environmental Inspection assessed 2.6 million hryvnias in damages for this violation.

The message added that in 2023, the Desnian Police Department, according to the KECC's materials, initiated a criminal case against the management of the "Bereg" restaurant. After all, its illegal construction in the "Desnyansky Luky" nature reserve caused 1.2 million hryvnias in damages.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the director of the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center, Volodymyr Boreyko, stated that over the past 3 years in Kyiv, developers 10 times made an attempt on protected objects.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a construction waste dump was set up on the coast of Kyiv in the Tyagle Lake landscape reserve.
