In Kyiv, more than 500 tons of garbage were removed from the underground part of the Lybid River.

The river was covered with bags to remove the dehydrated areas, Kyiv City Military Administration (KCVA) on Telegram.

It is noted that the central part of the river is also being prepared for cleaning.

"The systematic work on the ecological safety of the city will continue. Because the health and life of the capital's residents, as well as the city's safety, depend on it. These issues should always be a priority for the authorities of Kyiv," said Serhiy Popko, head of the KCVA.

Municipal Enterprise "Pleso" on Facebook reported that they are also actively clearing the land section of the Lybid river along Mykola Grinchenko Street, namely:

  • ground bushes and plants are removed;
  • bushes and trees are trimmed;
  • collected garbage is sorted for further processing.

The message added that utility companies are taking measures to preserve the achieved results for a long time.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, the utility company held a tender for the survey and clearing of the Lybid underground stream, the cost of which reached 14.6 million hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv Lake Blue has dried up which is in the Podilsky district near the Vynogradar housing estate. In May, its clearing and beautification was added to the list of environmental protection measures for 2023. KMDA promised to make every effort to save this unique reservoir.
