In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission was held on finding ways to solve environmental problems in the territory of the Kaluska Mining and Industrial District.
This was announced by the head of Kaluska OTG Andrii Naida on Facebook, adding that this is not the first meeting of the commission, which has not yet brought the expected results.
He said that the previous meetings led only to the implementation of partial monitoring.
Naida emphasized that the meeting was held under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources Olena Kramarenko and People's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" faction, member of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management Eduard Proschuk.
Proschuk emphasized that due to the conflicts between the enterprises "Oriana" and "Oriana-Eko" it is impossible to start urgent work on the restoration of brine processing and solving environmental issues of the community. He demanded that the relevant structures take a more careful approach to solving this issue.
"I emphasized the urgent financing of measures regarding priority actions to prevent the breakthrough of brines from sludge storage tanks, tailings storage facilities and other facilities," said Naida.
He added that the scientists, in particular the professor of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas Eduard Kuzmenko, insisted on carrying out more extensive monitoring on the territory of the Kaluska Mining and Industrial District.
Naida noted that the protocol of the meeting is currently being prepared, in which Kramarenko must provide relevant instructions.
"I really hope that there will finally be a result – work will begin on the elimination and prevention of negative consequences of environmental problems, as well as the restoration of potash fertilizer production and brine processing," he said.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the Regional Department of Ecology was suspected of manipulation of tenders. The agency plans to purchase 8 indicative automated air quality monitoring stations for the amount of more than 11 million hryvnias, but the tender is registered for only one supplier.
