Eco-activists called on Kharkiv residents to donate for upcycling metal cans and corrugated cardboard for making trench candles.

With the onset of the cold season, trench candles are becoming more and more relevant for soldiers, the Kharkiv Zero Waste Facebook community reports.

Eco-activists call to bring clean cans up to 10 cm high and up to 8 cm wide from:

  • canned peas, corn;
  • condensed milk;
  • from canned meat and fish, etc.

They also urged Kharkiv residents to completely remove the lids from the cans and to bend the sharp edges after opening them with a can wrench.

Raw materials can be brought to the Zero Waste Yard raw materials at the address of st. Malopanasivska, 5/7 according to the schedule:

  • Tuesday 13:00-17:00;
  • Thursday 10:00-14:00;
  • Saturday 10:00-14:00;
  • Sunday 11:00-15:00.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Kharkiv eco-activists handed over things collected as part of the re-use campaign, i.e. reuse, to displaced persons and vulnerable residents of the Zmiyiv community.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Khmelnytskyi, the Waste Management Center began accepting people's unnecessary clothes and shoes for reuse. The Center stores such things temporarily and gives them to organizations, volunteers and anyone who needs them.
