During the ban, they will strengthen the protection of water bodies

In the Zhytomyr and Rivne regions, a spawning ban on catching fish and other aquatic biological resources will begin on April 1 until June 30.

In addition to a fine, for illegal fishing, violators will have to pay damages for each fish caught, the State Environmental Inspection of the Polissky District reports on Facebook.

It is noted that for violating the spawning ban, fishermen will have to pay:

  • for non-observance of the ban - a fine from 34 to 680 hryvnias;
  • for illegal employment in fishing, which caused significant damage, criminal liability is provided (Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the sanction of the article provides for the imposition of a fine in the amount of 1,700 to 3,400 hryvnias or restriction of freedom for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of tools and means of fishing and all obtained

In the message, it was said that the updated Fishing Rules allow only amateur fishing during spawning in public water bodies with hook fishing tools with the number of hooks no more than two per angler. Or by spinning with one artificial bait from the shore outside spawning areas, as well as within the administrative boundaries of settlements.

Eco-inspectors emphasized that during the ban, they will strengthen the protection of water bodies together with the fish protection patrol, police officers and public environmental protection inspectors.

Ban periods:

For the Zhytomyr region

  • from April 1 to May 20 – on the rivers of the region and their root waters;
  • from April 1 to June 9 – at reservoirs;
  • from April 1 to June 30 – in ancillary waters.

For the Rivne region

  • from April 1 to May 20 – on the rivers of the region and their root waters;
  • from April 1 to June 10 – on lakes, reservoirs;
  • from April 1 to June 30 – in tributary waters of rivers.

In the message, concerned Ukrainians were called to report to the telephone "hotline" about violations of the Fishing Rules or the Procedure for the purchase or sale of aquatic biological resources.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Odesa region, in the national natural park "Tuzlovsk estuaries", poachers who fished in the Jantshey estuary for about 500,000 hryvnias were detained.
