The decision to temporarily freeze funding for USAID Agency (USAID) has affected both NGOs and government agencies in Ukraine

In January, the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine managed to receive anti-virus software under a USAID project. As you know, the activities of this donor organization were suspended by the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

Oleksandr Subbotenko, Head of the Sector for Coordination and Control of Territorial and Interregional Territorial Bodies of the SEI, told EcoPolitics in a commentary.

He said that the project was aimed at improving cybersecurity. During its implementation, the State Environmental Inspectorate received 1000 licensed anti-virus programs. Now the SEI's IT specialists are installing them on the agency's computers, laptops, and servers.

The head of the sector also said that this USAID cybersecurity program has many recipients – about 80, and the State Ecological Inspection is one of them. The total cost of the software installed under this project for the SEI is more than UAH 4.4 million.

“We are grateful to USAID for help. We had time to get everything, ”Alexander Subbotenko summed up.

Currently, EcoPolitic is waiting for a comment from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine on those USAID programs that have been suspended for this agency.

As we reported earlier, on his first day in office, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order for the second time to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.
