Deputies will also discuss plans for the current year

On Monday, January 13, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management will meet via videoconference at 11:00 a.m.

EcoPolitic has prepared the committee's agenda for its readers.

The MPs will review the conclusion of the Environmental Committee dated 04.12.2024 to the draft Law “On Mining Waste Management”, for which the Committee has been designated as the lead committee.

Other important tasks set by the MPs at this meeting include the following:

  1. To analyze the implementation of the Law Drafting Plan of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for 2024.
  2. To discuss the proposals of the committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on environmental policy and nature management to the draft agenda of the thirteenth session of the parliament of the ninth convocation.
  3. Consider the Work Plan of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management for the period of the thirteenth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on December 4, the Environmental Committee supported the draft law No. 12180 on mining waste. However, experts analyzed the version of the document submitted to the committee and stated that the lawmakers did not take into account the amendments of MPs, specialized associations and experts, which they promised to take into account when preparing the document for the second reading.

Among the shortcomings, the experts named an increase in the fiscal burden on the same object of taxation and incomplete consideration of the specifics of waste management in the oil and gas industry.
