The police were called to the scene

Specialists from the State Environmental Inspection of the Capital Region have twice caught a vehicle belonging to the Berezan City Council municipal enterprise in the Kyiv region red-handed, unloading household waste at an illegal landfill.

The environmental inspectors reported this on their official Telegram page.

According to the specialists, the first incident occurred on February 28 this year. During a raid in the Brovarsky district near the city of Berezan, they discovered an illegal landfill where a specialized vehicle belonging to the Berezan City Council's municipal enterprise was dumping garbage.

During a re-inspection on June 26 at the same site, environmental inspectors again encountered a tractor belonging to the same city council, which was again unloading household waste. They say that this fact indicates a systematic disregard for environmental legislation, which leads to land pollution and can cause negative environmental consequences.

In order to record the offense and bring those involved to justice, the inspectors called the police to the scene.

Law enforcement officers accepted a statement of the crime from the inspectors, seized the vehicle, and conducted an investigation. Now the DEI is awaiting information about the opening of criminal proceedings.

The eco-inspectors expressed their sincere gratitude to the police for their prompt response and professional performance of their duties.

Earlier, EcoPolitic reported that there are plans to create a waste processing hub in the Kyiv region for waste disposal and electricity generation.
