In Kryvyi Rih, in 2022, the volume of industrial waste generation decreased by 60%, and the volume of disposal decreased by 67% due to the decline in production during the war.
24.4 million tons of such waste were used for the production of crushed stone, road construction, backfilling of funnels, etc., reports the Department of Ecology of the Executive Committee of the Kryvorizka City Council on Facebook.
It is noted that the share of waste disposed of in 2022 to the volume of generated waste is 47%, in 2021 this indicator reached 34%. As part of the implementation of the City Environmental Program, industrial waste was used:
- 18.2 million tons – for mining reclamation of lands, backfilling of quarries, mine collapse zones and sinkholes;
- 4.3 million tons – for the construction of technological highways and railways;
- 1.7 million tons – for crushed stone production;
- 0.16 million tons – for disposal of slag furnace and steelmaking sludge.
In the message, it was emphasized that within the framework of the Program, measures were also implemented regarding complex industrial processing and disposal of waste, namely:
- continuation of the implementation of pulp thickening technology of JSC Southern Mining and Processing Plant;
- a conclusion was obtained from the assessment of the impact on the environment of the planned activity "New construction of a complex for the thickening of beneficiation waste on the industrial territory of the workshop of technological water and slurry management of PJSC Southern Mining and Processing Plant;
- the use of ash and slag formed during the firing of cement clinker of PrJSC Kryviy Rig Cement is ensured.
The authors noted that in 2022, for the reclamation of disturbed lands, there were:
- a land management project for the reclamation of disturbed lands was developed – Rudomaine LLC;
- the work on the actual condition of the massif of mining works of dump №4 was carried out to confirm the possibility of carrying out works on its reclamation – PrJSC Central GOK;
- a conclusion was received from the EIA of the planned activity "Reclamation of empty rock warehouses №4, №9 and the composition of substandard fractions of ore mass №8 in the territory of the mining diversion of the mine Oktyabrska (Pokrovska), the procedure for assessing the impact on the environment of the planned activity "Biological reclamation of tailings storage" is in progress and dams of the Pokrovska mine – JSC Kryvbaszalizrudkom.
