Poachers who dabbled in 3 million UAH during spawning will appear in court zap.gp.gov.ua

They have been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine

Prosecutors of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office in Zaporizhzhia brought to court the case of two residents of Zaporizhzhya district, who without permits for fishing illegally caught fish during spawning, and by their actions caused damage of more than 3 million UAH.

This is reported by the Zaporizhzhya regional prosecutor's office.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that the violators were 27-year-old and 33-year-old residents of Zaporizhzhya district, who were engaged in fishing in large volumes and without permits.

Employees of the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries calculated the losses caused by the ecosystem of the state – the amount amounted to more than 3 million UAH. In this regard, a lawsuit has been filed against the perpetrators for compensation for the damage caused.

Violators are charged with illegal fishing, which caused significant damage, acting on the basis of a prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of Article 249 of the Criminal Code provides for a fine of 100 to 200 of the tax-free minimum income of citizens or restriction of freedom for a period of up to 3 years.

At the beginning of July, EcoPolitic told that in Poltava Oblast, on the territory of the landscape reserve of national importance "Sulynskyi", inspectors of the State Ecoinspection of the Central District together with police officers discovered and removed poaching nets with fish of various species.
