The Architectural and Urban Planning Council of the specialized department of the Poltava Regional State Administration has recommended approving a project to build an industrial park with a waste processing complex in the Tereshkivska community near Poltava.

The future park will be located in the middle of the forest, which will create an additional natural protective barrier for the surrounding settlements, the press service of the Poltava Regional State Administration reports.

It is noted that the waste processing complex will consist of:

  • of the main enterprise, which will accept waste for sorting, processing and disposal;
  • an enterprise for the secondary processing of raw materials, which will make new products from it.

The press service said that the area of the park will reach 27 hectares.

"This is an important project for the Poltava Region, which is supported by the Ministry of Environment. The Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Regional State Administration provided the documentation developer with comments and suggestions that should be taken into account in the further implementation of the initiative," said the director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of OVA, Serhiy Oleynikov.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, Urban Planning and Architecture, Housing and Communal Economy and Energy of OVA Iryna Osobik emphasized that this site will not change the scheme of waste collection and removal.

"Currently, there are already preliminary agreements from water, electricity and gas supply companies regarding the connection of the industrial park to energy carriers," she said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in 2024, the Kobeliaky community in Poltava Oblast plans to eliminate and rehabilitate a 1.3-hectare landfill in the Kremenchuk forestry.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Lutsk Mayor Ihor Polishchuk and representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on preparations for loan financing for the construction of a waste processing complex.
