The public service experience of the official in the field of environmental protection is 18 years, 6 of them in managerial positions

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Olena Kramarenko as First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry.

Under the previous Minister Ruslan Strelka, she was a deputy. Olena Kramarenko was responsible for the formation and implementation of state policy in the areas of environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment, state environmental control, and reform of the chemical safety system in Ukraine.

During the term of Ostap Semerak, Olena Kramarenko worked as Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Safety and Permitting and Licensing Activities – Head of the Department for Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting and Licensing Activities of the Ministry of Ecology.

After the appointment of Olena Kramarenko in May 2022 to the position of deputy minister a scandal broke out . At that time, NGO activists opposed her candidacy, as it was allegedly related to the corruption case of UAH 200,000 opened against the director of the Department of Environmental Safety and Permitting and Licensing Serhiy Lukyanchuk.

The name of Olena Kramarenko also appeared in a number of other corruption scandals.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on October 1 the new deputy in the Ministry of Environment the government appointed Oleksandr Semenets.
