Calls for the elimination of the SEI are populism and political PR

People's Deputy Оlena Krivoruchkina in an exclusive comment for EcoPoliticа commented on the initiative of Оlexander Marikovsky to liquidate the State Environmental Inspectorate.

She explained that SEI specialists work every day, including under shelling, fixing environmental crimes in the Russian Federation and hindering the work of "black" lumberjacks and poachers.

“To leave Ukraine without an eco-control and eco-protection body today is not reform, it is sabotage,” says Krivoruchkina.

She noted that the problems of corruption exist in any country and need to be decisively combated. Thanks to the joint work with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, we managed to achieve real results, namely the opening of criminal proceedings and sentencing.

"Of course, there are also personnel decisions. This is a process that cannot be implemented in one day, but it is underway," the MP says.

She also urged to contact law enforcement agencies on issues of corruption, because this is also typical for other state structures, for example, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the healthcare system.

Krivoruchkina also noted that calls for the elimination of the SEI are populism and political PR.

Recall, deputies are developing liquidation project of the State Ecological Inspectorate , given the transfer of some functions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the SEI budget - for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As EcoPolicy reported earlier, in the Lviv region, the State Environmental Inspectorate began calculate losses from shelling.
