The project was started 4 years ago

On April 10-15, in Transcarpathia, in the village of Yanoshi, Berehiv district, the construction site of a waste sorting plant can be handed over to contractors to start preparatory work.

The head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, Volodymyr Chubirko, said this at the meeting of the project "ZeroWaste: Zero waste", reports the Transcarpathian Regional Council on Facebook.

It is noted that the project is part of the cross-border cooperation program "Hungary - Slovakia - Romania - Ukraine" (HUSKROUA) of the European Neighborhood Instrument. It is designed to reduce the amount of waste accumulated in the region.

The message emphasized that the project was started 4 years ago, but due to a number of reasons, including the increase in the cost of implementation, the process slowed down.

The message emphasized that economic and legal issues are currently being settled. Also, the European Association of Territorial Cooperation TISA and the Berehiv City Council signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The agencies will agree on property issues regarding the plant during the year.

The press service said that the process of legal approval of the project, including changes to the 2014 documentation regarding the construction of the plant, is currently underway.

"Participants of the meeting submitted their proposals for speeding up work on the project and agreed to settle the order of joint actions by the end of the week," the message added.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Hungarian government provided the Zakarpattia Regional Council with about $2.45 million for the construction of the region's first waste sorting plant in the village of Yanoshi, Berehiv district.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in January 2022, in Transcarpathia, rivers in full water once again carried garbage to Hungary and Slovakia, and new garbage islands were formed on Borzhava, which you can even walk on.
