In Transcarpathia, illegal and unlimited felling of trees worth 22.5 million hryvnia was discovered in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve.

Violations were discovered by environmental inspectors during an unscheduled inspection, the State Environmental Inspectorate in the Transcarpathian region reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the inspection was carried out by order of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

"We remind you that, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, natural resources belong to the Ukrainian people," the statement stressed.

The press service said that the materials of the unscheduled inspection were transferred to the prosecutor's office of the Transcarpathian region.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Lviv region, the leadership of the branch of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" organized an underground data center for cryptocurrency mining in the office premises of "Rava-Russka Forestry". The damage from such activities, which lasted more than a year, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to more than 1.5 million UAH.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, Yuliya Yatsyk, People's Deputy and member of the Temporary Investigative Commission on illegal logging in the Transcarpathian region, suspected officials from the regional prosecutor's office of involvement in the schemes of the forest mafia. Members of the VSK initiated internal checks on the inaction of some leaders of the Transcarpathian regional police and prosecutor's office, and their inconsistency with their positions.
