The violator faces up to 3 years of imprisonment

In Volyn, near the village of Mylovan in the Kovel district, a police officer found a black logger who had managed to cut down eleven alder trees with a chainsaw.

The damage caused by this felling reached 150 thousand hryvnias, according to the Main Department of the National Police in Volyn region.

It is noted that the community officer called the police investigative team and forestry workers to the scene. The fact of illegal logging was properly documented, and the wood and chainsaw were seized.

"The man faces up to three years in prison for his actions," the statement said.

The press service said that the police had registered the violation in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 246 (Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that in Volyn, in the Shatskyi National Nature Park near the village of Ostrivya, forestry workers discovered a "black" lumberjack, who cut down trees with a chainsaw.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, prosecutors in Volyn exposed two officials from the state forest farms, who organized the scheme of illegal felling of trees and their further implementation through a controlled sawmill.
