Personnel purges were announced after the deputy director of the regional forest office was exposed for illegal enrichment of UAH 150 million

The state-owned enterprise Forests of Ukraine has decided to dismiss all directors of its Rivne branches due to chronic and deep corruption problems.

To solve these problems, the region will completely renew the staff of the local leadership, the press service of the Forests of Ukraine reports on Telegram.

"As I promised last week, personnel purges have begun in the forest industry", – stressed the general director of the state-owned enterprise, Yurii Bolokhovets.

It is noted that the new managers of forestry will be determined at an open personnel competition. The announcement will soon appear on the department's website.

"The DP's position is principled, we have great hope that the law enforcement officers and judges will finish the work we started, the cases will end with real verdicts, and not be quietly covered up, as sometimes happens," the press service emphasized.

Bolokhovets announced the purges after a deputy director of the regional forestry office, a member of the Rivne Regional Council, was caught in an illegal enrichment scheme. During the searches, 150 million hryvnias in national and foreign currency, as well as about 3.5 kg of gold, jewelry, weapons, three luxury cars, and other property were found and seized from him. The official also had plots of land with cottage buildings.

Earlier, EcoPolitic analyzed how the corruption component in Ukraine's environmental protection and nature management sector has changed amid a full-scale war and the implementation of European integration requirements.
