To improve water quality, 76 million hryvnias will be spent on the construction and reconstruction of treatment facilities

In the Lviv region, the Basin Administration for Water Resources of the Western Bug and Xian Rivers in June checked the quality of surface water at 23 observation points in the Vistula River basin and found the worst quality in six rivers.

Compared to May, rivers have been added to the list of rivers with the lowest water quality Cherry and Marunka, reports the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook.

It is noted that water analysis was carried out for research physical, chemical and chemical indicators, including the content of:

  • organic and biogenic substances;
  • pesticides;
  • heavy metals;
  • polyaromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons;
  • alkylphenols;
  • trichlorobenzenes;
  • medicines.

The report emphasized that the lowest water quality was found in the rivers:

  • Poltva – by the content of dissolved oxygen, organic, biogenic substances, surfactants (synthetic surfactants), halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, etc.;
  • Western Bug (below the mouth of the Poltva River) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances, pesticides;
  • Cherries – according to the content of pesticides;
  • Malekhivtsi (in the village of Malekhiv) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
  • Maruntsy (below the city of Vinniki) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
  • Pigs (below the city of Zhovkva) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances, pesticides.

It is noted that compared to May 2023:

water quality has deteriorated in rivers

  • Western Bug – the city of Kamenka-Bugskaya, the village of Litovezh;
  • Rata;
  • Malekhovtsy;
  • pigs;
  • Cherries;

water quality improved in rivers

  • Poltva – the village of Kamenopol;
  • Western Bug – the city of Busk.

"To improve the quality of water from the regional fund for environmental protection this year, more than 76 million hryvnias are provided for the construction and reconstruction of facilities for wastewater treatment and sewerage networks," said acting Director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration Oksana Voytik.

She added that the initiative will be implemented in:

  • Zolochevsky district – the village of Glynyany;
  • Lviv region – the villages of Davydov, Apiaries-Zubrytsky, Salt;
  • Sambir district – the village of Mizhenets;
  • Stryisky district – the village of Dobryany;
  • the cities of Drohobych, Zhydachev and Pustomyty.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in the Lviv region in May 2023, they carried out a monitoring of the quality of surface waters in the Vistula River basin. The lowest water quality was found in 4 rivers.
