In the Lviv Region, the Basin Management of Water Resources of the Western Bug and Syan Rivers checked the quality of surface water in 23 observation points of the Vistula River basin in May.
The best water quality was observed in the Zavadivka River in the Yavoriv district, reports the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook.
The message emphasized that the lowest water quality was found in the rivers:
- Poltva – by the content of dissolved oxygen, organic, biogenic substances, SPAR (synthetic surfactants), halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, etc.;
- Western Bug (below the mouth of the Poltva River) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
- Malekhivtsi (Malekhiv village) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
- Pigs (below the city of Zhovkva) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances.
It is noted that compared to April 2023:
water quality has deteriorated in rivers
- Poltva – Kamyanopol village;
- Marunka – the city of Vinnyki;
- Vyshnya – the village of Cherneve and the city of Mostyska;
- Western Bug – in the observation points of the villages of Stariy Dobrotvir, Litovezh, and Zabuzhzhia.
water quality has improved in rivers
- Rata – the village of Mezhiryche;
- Kiysky stream – the village of Nestanychi;
- Western Bug – the village of Ambukiv.
Water quality in other observation points did not change significantly.
The message emphasized that the monitoring of the quality of surface waters of the Lviv region is carried out every month and is an integral part of the state environmental monitoring system. Eight observation points are located on cross-border areas and one site is located at the drinking water intake site.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in April 2023 it was held in Lviv Oblast surface water quality monitoring in the basin of the Vistula River. The worst water quality was found in 4 rivers.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Vinnytsia City Council approved the Concept development of small rivers until 2035 to improve their condition and make the shores a recreation area.
