Monitoring of the quality of surface water in the Lviv region is carried out every month

In Lviv region, the Basin Management of Water Resources of the Western Bug and Syan rivers checked the quality of surface water in 23 observation points of the Vistula River basin in April.

The river with the worst quality was among the four rivers Poltva, however, compared to March 2023, the quality of its water has improved, reports the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook.

It is noted that the analysis took into account the physico-chemical and chemical indicators of water, in particular the content of:

  • organic and biogenic substances;
  • pesticides;
  • heavy metals;
  • polyaromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons;
  • alkylphenols;
  • trichlorobenzenes;
  • medicines

The message emphasized that the lowest water quality was found in the rivers:

  • Poltva – according to the content of dissolved oxygen, organic, biogenic substances, SPAR (synthetic surfactants) , halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, etc.;
  • Western Bug (below the mouth of the Poltva River) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
  • Maruntsi (below the town of Vinnyki) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances;
  • Pigs (below the city of Zhovkva) – according to the content of organic and biogenic substances.

It is noted that compared to March 2023:

water quality has deteriorated in rivers

  • Western Bug – at the observation points of the villages of Stariy Dobrotvir, Ambukiv, Ustylug;
  • Kiysky stream – the village of Nestanychi;
  • Rata – the village of Mezhiryche;
  • Glass – village Krakow

water quality has improved in rivers

  • Poltva – Kamyanopol village;
  • Malekhivka – the village of Malekhiv;
  • Vyshnya – Cherneve village;
  • in the observation point "Zachidnyi Bug River" – village Zabuzhja" .

The message emphasized that the monitoring of the quality of surface waters of the Lviv region is carried out every month and is an integral part of the state environmental monitoring system.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Lviv region in March 2023, surface water quality monitoring was conducted in the basin of the Vistula River. The worst water quality was found in 5 rivers.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Ukraine, for the first time in the years of independence, an indictment was sent to the court based on the fact committing ecocide, namely, a massive sea in the tributary of the Sluch River.
