Modernization will be carried out in 8 communities of the region

The Lviv Regional State Administration approved the list of environmental protection measures for 2023, including the modernization of wastewater treatment systems and sewage networks.

Such measures will strengthen the regional Environmental Protection Program for 2021-2025, reports the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook.

It is noted that financing will be carried out from the regional environmental protection fund, in particular from the income of environmental taxes.

The message emphasized that modernization will be carried out in 8 communities of Lviv region. Activities will cover the construction and reconstruction of:

  • sewage treatment facilities;
  • separate sewage systems, sewage networks and structures.

The press service added that funds from the fund will also be spent on the disposal of incandescent lamps, which residents of Lviv region exchanged for LED lamps.

It is noted that the funds that come to the special funds of the state and local budgets from the payment of the environmental tax have a specific purpose and can be directed to the financing of environmental protection measures.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wroe, that in the Lviv region, eco-inspectors confirmed the contamination of the Zimna Voda river with sewage. In particular, the maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen, ammonium, chemical and biochemical consumption of oxygen, sometimes by 7 times, iron, as well as a lack of soluble oxygen have been exceeded in the water.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Lviv received the prestigious European Energy Award certification for the implementation and planning of effective energy and climate policy measures.
