The landfill was not equipped with biogas and filtrate drainage systems

In the Kyiv region, a court forced Kommunalnyk from the Vyshhorod district to pay UAH 13 million in damages to the state budget for the lack of critical equipment at a landfill near the village of Stari Petrivtsi.

The company also did not have permits for storage, disposal and disposal of household waste, according to State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine in Telegram.

Violations were discovered by environmental inspectors during an unscheduled inspection in the period from June 22 to July 1, 2021.

The landfill was not equipped with biogas and leachate disposal systems, in violation of Article 35-1 of the Law of Ukraine "On Waste", which prohibits the operation of landfills without groundwater protection systems, extraction and disposal of biogas and leachate.

"Disposal of household waste is allowed only in specially equipped landfills / dumps," - explains SEI.

Also, the company did not have the conclusion of the ATS or the conclusion of the state ecological expertise on the activities of storage, disposal and burial of household waste on this land.

DEI specialists presented Kommunalnik with three claims totaling almost UAH 13 million for voluntary payment during the month. However, the company refused.

SEI together with representatives of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Commercial Court, which on May 31 satisfied the claim in full.

We will remind, giant landfill near Kiev estimated at 6 million UAH.

As EcoPolitics reported earlier, millions of losses were calculated in Zhytomyr Region from one downed plane.
