Criminal proceedings were opened, Part 1 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code (pollution or damage to land).

Near Snovsk, law enforcement officers discovered land contamination with waste from a local enterprise.

This was reported by the communication department of the Chernihiv Oblast Police.

According to the investigation, while patrolling the outskirts of the city of Snovsk, police noticed a tractor that was draining a liquid of unknown origin into the field. The patrol officers stopped the vehicle and called an investigative team to the scene.

The tractor driver explained to law enforcement officers that the liquid he was dumping into the field was waste from the processing of products from a local company.

The police inspected the scene, confiscated the vehicle and took samples of the liquid for expert examination.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the chief engineer of a private enterprise that produces grape wines in Odesa Oblast will be tried for polluting the land next to the company with waste in the Kulevcha community.
