Residents of Lutsk gave 15.7 tons of sorted garbage for recycling per year

Residents of Lutsk during the first year of operation of the Center The Waste Management "Chisty Lutsk" handed over more than 15.7 tons of waste and about 10 m3 of organic matter.

The center also accepted hazardous waste for disposal, including 1,200 kg of batteries and accumulators and 1,520 mercury-containing lamps and thermometers, Chisty Lutsk reports on Facebook.

The message emphasized that the center is designed to:

  • reduce the load on the landfill;
  • to develop eco-awareness, educational and training direction regarding waste management;
  • to contribute to the preservation of the environment;
  • accept waste from the population for further processing or proper disposal,
  • donate items for reuse;
  • collect hazardous waste.

It is noted that more than 5,000 people visited the Center during this time, who transferred to:

processing

  • glass – 9190 kg;
  • paper – 2800 kg;
  • PET bottles – 1080 kg;
  • metal – 1675 kg;
  • stretch film – 265 kg;
  • foam plastic – 310 kg;
  • packaging type "TETRA PACK" – 350 kg;
  • organic waste – about 10 m3;
  • plastic of the second and fifth fractions – 95 kg;

disposal

  • batteries and accumulators – 1200 kg;
  • mercury-containing lamps and thermometers – 1,520 pcs.;
  • dangerous substances and electronics;

reuse

  • clothing and furniture;
  • household appliances;
  • dishes;
  • household and household items;
  • construction waste.

The message added that the center also held educational excursions for 1,500 students of the community and adults from different parts of Ukraine. In addition, warm beds with compost were set up in the center and vegetables were grown.

"This year was powerful and productive! We do not plan to stop, but on the contrary, we plan to expand the network of sorting stations and become closer to the residents of Luchan, both in terms of training and direct collection of sorted waste," the Central Bureau of Statistics said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Lutsk they started accepting plastic products and HDPE containers, marked 2, and RR plastic, marked 5. These are bottles from household chemicals, shampoos, cups from sour cream, buckets , canisters, basins, toys, etc.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the Lutsk community, all schools installed four thermo-preserving composters with a volume of 1,800 liters of propylene.
