If you do not eliminate the fire in time - the fire will get to the body of the landfill and extinguish it will be almost impossible

In Mariupol, Donetsk region, the Primorsky district was "covered" by poisonous smog from a fire at a canned landfill.

The city was on the verge of an ecological catastrophe, because the occupiers do not have the capacity to put out the fire, according to Mariupol City Council in Telegram.

A fire that broke out at a canned landfill on the street. According to the Navy, it threatens human health and life, because dangerous substances are released into the air, including furans, dioxins and benzopyrene, which is a particularly dangerous carcinogen. Benzopyrene in terms of the level of impact on the body belongs to the highest class of danger.

The mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko noted that the fire was the result of chaotic and illiterate actions of the occupiers. The consequences can be catastrophic - people can be poisoned by dangerous substances, many of which are released into the air.

"At the same time, the occupiers, having destroyed all the equipment, can neither locate nor eliminate the fire. If this is not done in time, the fire will hit the "body" of the landfill and extinguish it will be almost impossible, which will lead to an environmental disaster. This is absolute cynicism and bullying of civilians, their lives and health are in danger," Boychenko said.

We will remind, occupied Mariupol was almost captured 9 thousand tons of garbage.

As EcoPolitics reported earlier, residents of Mariupol are forbidden to swim in the sea.
