In Zhytomyr region, eco-inspectors found pollution territory of the Ovrut community with woodworking waste (sawdust) from the Ovrut specialized forestry branch, which caused damage to more than 1.5 million hryvnias.

Exceeding the content of exchangeable ammonium, sulfates, chlorides was found in the soil, reports the State Environmental Inspection of Polissky District on Facebook.

It is noted that the sawdust was placed on open ground without any insulation to contain the leachate. The area of ​​the landfill reached 2 hectares, and the height was 3.5 m.

Eco-inspectors calculated 8,400 hryvnias in damages for land pollution and 1,476,000 hryvnias for littering.

The message emphasized that such actions violated a number of laws and regulations, in particular:

  • "On waste management;
  • "On environmental protection";
  • "On land protection";
  • Land Code of Ukraine.

It is noted that the eco-inspectors sent a claim to "Ovrutsk Specialized Forestry" and the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" for voluntary compensation for damages within a month. In addition, the case materials were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in the Zhytomyr region in the forest of the Dvoryshchensk village council, eco-inspectors found illegal felling of 286 trees, which caused damage to the environment of more than 1.8 million hryvnias.
