The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy has launched a project to ensure uninterrupted power supply during blackouts, which involves the installation of a hybrid solar power plant (SPP), batteries, and backup power generators.
This was reported on the official website of the university.
In total, by the end of spring 2025, it is planned to ensure the energy independence of 75% of the Academy's buildings.
The first stage is scheduled to be completed in early February 2025. During its implementation, the second campus is to be powered. This will allow to fully provide 4 buildings and the Cultural and Artistic Center of the university with power supply in the conditions of prolonged blackout.
The university said that after completion of all technical work on connecting the equipment, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy will be able to create the necessary conditions for uninterrupted power supply and ensure a full educational process during large-scale power outages.
To implement this project, the university has engaged partners – Naftogaz Group, Ukrnafta PJSC, and Kyiv Mohyla Business School. Negotiations with other partners are ongoing.
“The educational process cannot stop, even during blackouts. For an offline training, it is a fundamental value, because live interaction and exchange of knowledge contribute to quality education, ”-said Sergei Kvit, President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Earlier, EcoPolitic told that in Cherkasy region new SPP will help Vodokanal to save 225 thousand UAH per year and maintain stable power supply during power outages.
