Natalka Park was positioned as a park without commerce in any form

The community of Kyiv called on the city council to prevent the construction of a parking lot and the entry of cars into the territory of the Natalka park in the Obolon district.

The corresponding petition, which was registered on the website of the Kyiv City Council, gained more than 3,200 signatures out of the required 6,000, although the collection will continue for another 56 days.

The appeal states that the community supports the reconstruction of the caisson as a public space and the creation of a "sports and recreation complex" accessible on foot.

As you know, the caisson structure is a concrete structure in the shape of a submarine with a height of 17 meters. It was supposed to be an important strategic object, namely a part of the unfinished underground tunnel under the Dnieper. The caisson on Obolon has not been used in any way since its construction stopped.

In the appeal, the community was also outraged by the fact that the plot of land was leased to "Guvexhouse" LLC for 22,000 hryvnias per month.

"Answers must also be found to the question: did the Kyiv Mayor violate the principles of avoiding conflict of interest when he admitted that he has personal friendly relations with the owner of the caisson when adopting this Decision," wrote the author of the petition, Bohdana Beschastna.

She emphasized that the community of Kyiv has turned Natalka park into a "dream park". From the very beginning of its creation, it was positioned as a park without commerce in any of its manifestations.

In the appeal, it was also emphasized that there is a threat of canceling the restriction on the entry of cars into the territory of the park.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Kyiv City Council leased 1.3 hectares of Obolon Park "Natalka" to GIVEKSHAUS LLC for 10 years. They want to build a road through the park and build a parking lot on its territory.
