The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the Strategy for the Development of Industrial Parks until 2030.
It is designed to accelerate the transformation of industrial parks into drivers of economic growth, promoting the eco-industrial park model, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reports.
Yuliya Svyridenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, emphasized that the Government is interested in accelerating the development of industrial parks, as many of them are at the initial stage of development and do not receive sufficient attention from the relevant communities in the regions.
"The strategy aims to create a clear road map for the development of industrial parks and support the country's economic growth by providing a favorable environment for business activities," she explained.
It is noted that the eco-industrial park model involves the implementation of the following principles:
- sustainable development;
- circular economy approaches;
- resource-efficient and clean production;
- reducing the negative impact of environmental pollution;
- increasing the efficiency of the use of resources and waste, in particular by creating closed cycles of their use and industrial symbiosis;
- use of energy from renewable sources;
- improving the quality of the social component, both within the park and beyond, particularly on a local and regional scale;
- improving the quality of management at the park level.
The message emphasized that as of February 2023, management companies were selected for 40 of the 61 industrial parks included in the Register of Industrial Parks. Also, 18 parks already have participants and other subjects.
"Insignificant rates of development of industrial parks do not allow potential participants to get access to high-quality proposals for the placement of their production facilities," the press service noted.
The message emphasized that the Strategy is aimed at balancing the economic, social and environmental dimensions for the sustainable development of the national economy and includes a set of measures aimed, in particular, at:
- improvement of the legal framework for the creation, functioning and development of industrial parks, which should also contribute to the transformation of industrial parks according to the eco-industrial park model;
- optimization and development of the network of industrial parks taking into account the priorities, current and prospective needs of business, territorial communities and the state;
- strengthening cooperation with international, governmental and non-governmental organizations, national and foreign partners in the field of ensuring the functioning of parks and attracting investments;
- promoting the formation and application of industrial park management practices that correspond to the best global approaches in this field;
- ensuring the institutional development of the system of formation and implementation of state policy regarding the creation and operation of industrial parks, based on self-regulation.
As EcoPolitic reported before, the Ministry of Strategic Industries (Minstrategprom) started the implementation of the project with creation of an ecological industrial park based on the processing of spent sludge in Kryvyi Rih.
