The world is moving in the direction of environmental protection. Transport is one of the main sources of CO2 emissions

Tightening environmental requirements around the world are forcing both public and private companies to meet the latest engine standards. Among the most popular standards are EURO 5 and EURO 6, which set strict emission standards.

Implementation of European standards in Ukraine

Since January 1, 2016, Ukraine has been implementing the EURO 5 standard. It applies to all vehicles imported from abroad, including buses, tractors and trucks. The introduction of EURO 6 standards was postponed several times – first from January 1, 2018 to January 1, 2020, and then to January 1, 2025.

Starting from January 1, 2025, the entry into the customs territory of Ukraine and the first state registration of vehicles will be carried out only if they meet environmental standards not lower than EURO 6. This is stated in the Law of Ukraine “On Certain Issues of Importation into the Customs Territory of Ukraine and First State Registration of Vehicles”.

" It is important to prepare for changes in legislation today. We study world experience and understand how important it is to keep up with the times and offer the market exactly the kind of transport that will be relevant after Ukraine joins the EU. There is a possibility that additional taxes may be introduced in the future for vehicles with engines that do not meet European standards. This can be a challenge for many companies, as it will be necessary to either change the fleet or pay additional taxes ", he comments Nikita Haydamaha, Temsa project manager.

The main differences between EURO 5 and EURO 6 standards

EURO 5 sets limits on emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM) and carbon monoxide (CO). In addition, it provides for the use of filters to reduce emissions of solid particles, as well as the use of technologies to reduce nitrogen oxides.

EURO 6 has much stricter limits on emissions of harmful substances, including nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. It includes the use of a selective catalytic converter (SCR) to reduce nitrogen oxides, as well as the use of filters with improved efficiency to reduce particulate emissions.

Temsa Prestij SX is an ideal choice for medium and short distances

The Temsa Prestij SX bus is an excellent example of transport that meets all the requirements of the EURO 6 standard. This bus is equipped with a reliable Mitsubishi FUSO engine that provides power, economy and environmental friendliness.

The main advantages of this engine:

  • Economic fuel consumption : only 15 l/100 km, which makes it profitable for carriers.
  • Long service interval : reduces the need for frequent technical inspections and repairs.
  • Environmental friendliness : complies with the EURO 6 standard, which ensures the minimum level of emissions of harmful substances.

Temsa Prestij SX is of particular interest to carriers operating short-haul routes abroad. Thanks to its characteristics, this bus ensures reliability, cost savings and reduced negative impact on the environment. Compliance with the EURO 6 standard also allows these buses to be used without hindrance in countries with strict environmental requirements.

Choosing buses with engines that meet the EURO 6 standard is beneficial not only from an economic point of view, but also from an environmental point of view. This will help preserve the environment and improve the quality of life. By the way, all new Temsa buses meet the EURO 6 standard.
