Borzhava systematically suffers from clogging, especially with plastic bottles

In Transcarpathia, in the city of Berehove, plastic bottles and other garbage were removed from the Borzhava River with the help of special equipment.

Such an initiative has been held once a year for the past two years, reports eco-activist Artem Prykhodko on Facebook.

He said that after the special equipment removes the waste from the river, it enters the reception point of the sorting station of the public organization Kolyorovi Baki. The initiative is implemented by local eco-activist Viktor Buchynskyi.

"In the east and west of Ukraine, the population has the same problem with the culture of waste management. For some reason, people treat rivers like a garbage chute," Prykhodko emphasized.

He also called on local authorities to develop garbage collection infrastructure, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources to recycle secondary raw materials, and Ukrainians to engage in civilized waste management.

In the discussion of the Facebook post, Buchynsky noted that such cleaning once a year is not enough. In addition, eco-activists remove most of the garbage from the river by hand.

It is worth noting that Borzhava systematically suffers from clogging, especially by plastic bottles.

Recall, in January 2022 in Zakarpattia Oblast, in the village of Verkhni Remety, Berehiv District, on the Borzhava River, a huge plastic traffic jam was formed. There was so much waste that people could walk on it.

As previously reported by EcoPolitics, a waste sorting plant which will become the second in the region can be built in Transcarpathia in the Tyachiv district.
