In Kyiv, KP "Pleso" plans to announce a competitive tender for clearing the underground section of the Lybid River under Saperno-Slobidska Street from significant silt deposits, wood and various garbage.

 This will improve water drainage and prevent future flooding, reports KMDA.

It is noted that "Pleso" specialists examined the underground section of Lybedi. In order to immediately eliminate the causes and minimize the risks of further flooding, it is necessary to clear the culvert tunnel.

The message emphasized that "Pleso" will announce a tender on the Prozorro platform for the selection of a subcontractor. The work will be carried out without attracting additional funds from the city budget, at the expense of the planned expenses of the utility company.

In July 2023, Kyiv tour guide Kyrylo Stepanets showed on his Facebook page how the underground part of the Lybid river looks like after flooding.

"Half of the tunnel is clogged with debris, and there is simply no other way for the water to return to the surface and gush through the hatches," he wrote.

He filmed a significant amount of trash, including car tires, bags, old furniture and plant remains.

Let us remind you that in February 2022, activists noted that the brook of the Lybid river was littered with garbage, namely rubber hoses, bottles and even an old blanket. Communal officials promised to clear the river of garbage in mid-January.

As previously reported by EcoPolitics, in May 2021 Kyiv's Lybid river acquired a corrosive yellow color due to sewage pollution.
