This is not the first such honor for this leading iron ore pellet producer in Europe.

Ukrainian company Ferrexpo has been included in the Europe’s Climate Leaders 2025 list compiled by the British publication Financial Times and German research company Statista.

This was reported by GMK Center with reference to the company’s press service.

This is the third time in a row that the domestic manufacturer has received such recognition among the leaders of climate transformation on the European continent.

The ranking includes companies that have demonstrated the most significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions between 2018 and 2023. The key criterion for determining climate leaders is the ratio of emissions to total revenue.

Ferrexpo was in the top quartile in its sector. Thus, the domestic company confirmed its leadership not only in production but also in sustainable resource management.

Among the initiatives that helped one of Ukraine's most stable producers achieve this result is the Green Mine program. It is aimed at electrifying mining equipment, using trolley-assist systems and battery-powered locomotives. The program helps reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and reduce capital expenditures.

Ferrexpo has announced the following initial results: since 2015, the company has reduced its gas consumption by 30% by switching to biofuel, and in 2021, it launched its own 5 MW solar power plant.

Ferrexpo's achievements clearly demonstrate that Ukrainian businesses can be global players that take their climate commitments seriously and implement the latest technologies in production.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in April, Ferrexpo plans to invest $3.3 billion in decarbonization by 2050. The company also intends to build a new 10.8 MW solar power plant to meet its own production needs.
