Dust can move over considerable distances

In Zaporizhzhia, in the occupied Energodar, the townspeople have been suffering for a month from large clouds of toxic dust from the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhia TPP.

In addition to improper maintenance of ash pits and systematic shelling, dust is raised due to car races on ash organized by the occupiers, the mayor of Energodar Dmytro Orlov reports in Telegram.

"The occupiers in Energodar continue to abuse the townspeople, regularly creating a threat to environmental and radiation safety with their actions," he wrote.

Orlov explained that ashes and slags are stored in ash pits, which are formed during the operation of the thermal power plant during the burning of solid fuels. This waste has a high concentration of toxic substances.

He noted that it is necessary to regularly sprinkle the dust with water on the ash dump. After all, when drying, this dust is able to move over considerable distances. Big clouds of dust have been blowing through the city for a month already.

"The situation is caused not only by weather conditions. "Rashists have recently come up with a new entertainment: as soon as the wind increases, they organize car races directly on the ashes, thereby significantly increasing the rise of dust into the atmosphere," Orlov emphasized.

He assumed that the occupiers do not understand how to ensure the proper operation of captured enterprises. In addition, they can hide the movement of their equipment behind clouds of toxic dust.

"The occupiers continue to commit numerous war crimes in the occupied territory, creating dangerous conditions for the lives of citizens," he emphasized.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the destruction of the dam ash dump of the Zaporizhzhya TPP will dramatically increase the probability of a nuclear accident at the ZNPP.
